There are plenty of mystical and terrifying creatures around the world that make them perfect for the horror genre. The Pischacha, an evil demon from Hindu and Buddhist mythologies, will appear in the upcoming Neon’s It Lives Inside.
The film stars Megan Suri (Never Have I Ever, Fresh Off the Boat), Neeru Bajwa (Jatt & Juliet), Mohana Krishnan (I Am Frankie), Vik Sahay (Chuck, Lodge 49), Gage Marsh (Batwoman, Big Sky), Beatrice Kitsos, and Betty Gabriel (Get Out, Upgrade). Bishal Dutta (Triads) directed the film from the script by Dutta and Ashish Mehta.
Here is the official synopsis of It Lives Inside:
Sam is desperate to fit in at school, rejecting her Indian culture and family to be like everyone else. When a mythological demonic spirit latches onto her former best friend, she must come to terms with her heritage in order to defeat it.

Manifestations of horror from myths worldwide are incredibly terrifying to Western audiences since they are very unfamiliar to our culture. It will be interesting to feature one from the Indian culture for our audiences and hopefully as effective as Japanese horror films introduce a new sub-genre to the aficionados.
One thing is for certain invisible demons with the ability of possession and contortion certainly make a horrifying experience on screen.
It Lives Inside is in theaters on September 22.
