Diablo IV Announces Second Season with Vampire Storyline | Gamescom 2023

Diablo 4: Season of Blood

Activision Blizzard revealed its upcoming second season for Diablo IV titled “Season of Blood” at the Gamescom Opening Night Live.

With many YouTubers criticizing its first season and a sharp drop in Twitch viewership, the game company hopes the next season raises its playtime and viewership back from the dead.

In this new storyline, the players will be introduced to a new character named Erys, voiced by the lovely Gemma Chan (Eternals, Crazy Rich Asians). According to Gameinformer, this vampire hunter is described as “complex, jaded, and having experienced plenty of horror in her life.

The Season of Blood is a new quest line featuring five new endgame bosses. So, there will be new content for Diablo IV instead of its endless grind through the different Torment modes.

As you guessed, the goal revolves around vampire hunting.

Some of the other updates announced included:

*More efficient inventory management for gems

*Paragon points, skill points, potion charges, and Obol capacity upgrades will now carry over into a new season once achieved with an Eternal or previous Seasonal Real character

*Changes to the functionality of status effects such as Vulnerable, Overpower, Critical Strike Damage, and Elemental Resistances.

Although a fresh storyline is needed for Diablo IV, many players are hoping for better adjustment updates to the characters and loot drops.

Twitch viewership peaked at nearly 1 million users at its launch date and dropped to under 15,000 viewers on a good day. The sharp drop is expected, but the end of summer and the recent launch of Baldur’s Gate 3 may have contributed to the decline.

Nonetheless, Diablo IV rejuvenates for the next season once the Season of the Malignant wraps on October 17.
