It’s The MCU Shuffle! Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, And More Get New Dates

According to recent reports, the SAG-AFTRA strike talks are not going as well as hoped.

Spider-Man 3, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder get new dates!

Welcome, welcome, welcome to game where the COVID-19 pandemic continues to force Hollywood to shuffle their movies endlessly. The best part is that no one wins! *Plays cheesy theme song*. In all seriousness, the pandemic has had its way with the film schedule as of late. We all know that no movie is safe, and as more information comes out about the virus, things will continue to shuffle around. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has already made a bunch of changes to their slate, and now we’re in for a few more.

First up is Spider-Man 3 — the follow-up to Spider-Man: Far From Home. That movie was slated for a July 16, 2021 release. The film has been pushed just under four months to November 5, 2021. What’s interesting is that everything around Spider-Man 3 was already pushed, but since it was under the control of Sony, Sony obviously had to be the one to make the call, not Marvel Studios.

But it wasn’t alone. Not long after Sony shifted Spider-Man 3, Marvel Studios pushed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That particular joint was tossed from November 5, 2021 to March 25, 2022. Finally, they gave one last-minute change to Thor: Love and Thunder. Instead of releasing on February 18, 2022, it will hit on February 11, 2022, one week earlier.

I know, I know. It’s hard to tell where things currently stand in terms of release dates. So, here you go. I got your back. Here’s the upcoming slate  of film releases.

Black Widow – November 6, 20202
The Eternals – February 12, 2021
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings – May 7, 2021
Spider-Man 3 – November 5, 2021
Thor: Love and Thunder – February 11, 2022
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – March 25, 2022.

As it stands, we don’t know what the status is of the Marvel Studios series on Disney+. From what we know, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has yet to be complete. With that in mind, its August 2020 release seems unlikely. Plus, if the shows and films segue perfectly into one another, I can only imagine this shuffle will continue to cascade downward.

Mark my words, this isn’t the last we heard in terms of shifting MCU release dates.

Lastly, Sony also pushed the release of the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. Instead of April 8, 2022, it’s hitting on October 7, 2022.
