J.J. Abrams Says Emperor Palpatine Won’t Be “A Cuddly Pal” In Rise Of Skywalker

Well, if it isn’t good old Palpy to save the day for Star Wars. After a divisive Episode 8, J.J. Abrams has brought back the biggest of bads to try and end the Skywalker Saga on a pleasing note. How involved will the Emperor be? That, of course, remains to be seen, but not even Disney would waste the Palpatine, would they?

Below you can see an interview with MTVNews, The Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams, while he is his usual unrevealing self he does open the door slightly to give a little bit of info. Check out exactly what he had to say below.

So it seems as if Palpatine had this grand plan that involved his supposed demise, and it played out over decades. You could say everything that has transpired has done so according to his design. If this plays out to be true he may be one of the most devious and calculating villains to ever appear on screen. He’s the grand puppetmaster of a galaxy far, far away and Disney has piqued my interest in the saga’s final installment by bringing him back.

Will Palpatine have a big role in The Rise of Skywalker? Let us know in the comments down below!
