Jack Black’s Netflix Comedy The Polka King Gets A Trailer

Netflix has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming original film, The Polka King. This movie stars Jack Black, Jenny Slate, and Jason Schwartzman.

The Polka King tells the true story of a Jan Lewan, a polka legend who runs a scam that gets him in trouble with the law. This was a story that was also told in the documentary The Man Who Would Be Polka King, but it’s been lovingly fictionalized in this adaptation.

The film premiered earlier this year at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival and was later picked up by Netflix. The Polka King is written and directed by Maya Forbes and Wally Wolodarsky.

On the whole, this trailer looks to tell an intriguing story, but it is a bit difficult to separate Jack Black from his usual persona. Additionally, it’s a bit hard to tell what sort of tone they’re shooting for, though reviews earlier this year pointed to the film being a fairly enjoyable ride. We’re interested to see if a film like this will garner an audience on the streaming service.

The film was expected to hit by the end of the year, but now has been scheduled to hit the streaming service on January 12, 2018.
