Legendary filmmaker James Cameron has previously expressed his, well, bewilderment with moviegoers’ fascination with superheroes. He just doesn’t seem to get why we all love seeing our comic book heroes receive big screen adaptations.
Cameron recently spoke with Yahoo! Entertainment and expressed his thoughts on James Wan’s hit film, Aquaman. You can check out what Cameron had to say below.
“I think its great fun. I never could have made that film, because it requires this kind of total dreamlike disconnection from any sense of physics or reality. People just kind of zoom around underwater, because they propel themselves mentally, I guess, I don’t know. But it’s cool! You buy it on its own terms.”

Cameron did praise the film for drawing attention to how we humans pollute the oceans.
“They did throw in a couple of things with whales and things like that to remind us that we are kind of using the ocean as a toilet and as a garbage dump. So I applaud the film for that.”
As for Aquaman surpassing a billion dollars at the box-office, Cameron had the following to say.
“Come back when you hit your second billion and you’re on your way to your third — then we’ll talk.”
Cameron comes off as being a little bitter, at least that’s how it feels to me. I don’t see any reason for the director to feel this way as no superhero movie has eclipsed the box-office success of his films, though Avengers: Infinity War did break the $2 billion mark is is the film to come the closest to Cameron’s films. Perhaps he simply isn’t a superhero kind of guy. This of course isn’t the first time he has expressed his thoughts on the superhero genre.
