James Cullen Bressack on Action With Bruce Willis in Fortress [Exclusive Interview]

Fortress with Bruce Willis and directed by James Cullen Bressack

With many action films, it’s a cash grab with a one-shot story with plenty of bullets flying and fist-to-fist fights. In the film about a secret government retirement community, Fortress is already in the works for multiple films with action star Bruce Willis at its core.

The film stars Jesse Metcalfe, Bruce Willis, Chad Michael Murray, Kelly Greyson, Ser’Darius Blain, Shannen Doherty, and Simon Phillips. James Cullen Bressack directed the movie from the screenplay by Alan Horsnail.

Here is the official synopsis:

In this dazzling cyber-thriller, Bruce Willis plays Robert, a retired CIA agent living at a secret resort in the woods. One day, his estranged son drives to the camp for a visit—but he’s followed by Robert’s old nemesis, Balzary (played by Chad Michael Murray). As the site is besieged by Balzary’s attack squad, father and son retreat to a high-tech bunker. But are its steel walls and advanced weapons powerful enough to match Balzary’s bloodthirsty plans for revenge?

LRM Online’s Gig Patta spoke with director James Cullen Bressack on the production of this film that starred Bruce Willis and Jesse Metcalfe. We talked about the unique concept of invading a retirement community of government agents, the bunker, and bringing this cast together.

Jordan Cullen Bressack made his directorial debut with the feature film My Pure Joy at the age of 18. His sophomore follow-up came with an unapologetic controversial brutal home invasion called Hate Crime, in which it played out in real-time and was also banned in the United Kingdom. Then he started To Jennifer, a feature film shot entirely on the iPhone 5. He proceeded to film many cult-favorite films such as Pernicious, 13-13-13, and Blood Lake.

Fortress is currently available On Demand, DVD, and Blu-ray today.
