While DC continues to search for its place within the world of cinematic superheroes, Marvel is celebrating a decade of films. James Gunn posted on his Instagram account today to celebrate the Marvel tenth anniversary party. Shown in the photo with Gunn is Michael Rooker, who played Yondu in the first two Guardians of the Galaxy films, both of which were directed by Gunn. Gunn gives a special thanks to Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau, and Roberty Downey Jr. You can see the post below.
With Rooker this weekend in Atlanta for Marvel Studios tenth anniversary get-together. Awesome weekend and an awesome time & massive props to Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau, and Robert Downey Jr. for spearheading this wonderful journey we're all on. We owe it all to them! . . #michaelrooker @michael_rooker #marvel #marvelstudios
It is hard to believe we have had tens years of quality films produced by Marvel. I can still remember being wowed by Robert Downey Jr. and the first Iron Man film. At that time, there weren’t many people with the foresight to see what the Marvel Cinematic Universe would one day become, luckily for us fans, Kevin Feige was one of the few and he has made good on that vision thus far. Marvel and Feige’s plans have worked out to near perfection, their execution and formula have delivered the certified gold standard as far as shared universes go.
