James Gunn Confirms Krypto In Superman And He’s Kryptonian

The Clayface movie has been confirmed as set in the DCU by James Gunn, plus the first Superman trailer is rumored for this Thursday.

In a recent social media post James Gunn confirms Krypto the superdog is in Superman and that he’s Kryptonian. Now, you may well already know Krypto was in the movie. There were a fair few set photos and little leaks. Therefore anyone who follows the Barside Buzz on this movies knew Krypto was in the film. Now though, it’s official and Gunn also confirms he’s an alien dog from Krypton.

Check out Gunn’s initial post below.

Gunn went on to reply to fan question on Threads and had this to say to a fan who suggested Krypto had to be a certain breed of dog.

“No. Krypto is historically a generic white dog, sometimes also a lab, white shepherd, husky, or Dalmatian. But obviously he’s an alien so he wouldn’t necessarily be exactly any one of these things.”

Which of course confirms this won’t be an Earth dog that somehow get’s abilities.

It’s going to be so interesting to see if Gunn’s vision of a new Superman is one I enjoy. It also remains to be seen whether it will hit with box office paying viewers. I’m looking forward to July 2025 just to see if he can pull it off at this point. Set photos are certainly not enough to get me excited for a movie, and it could be a while before see the first trailers. Or, it might not, be, we are in new ground and have no idea what Gunn and Safran’s strategy will be with marketing.

I kinda hope it works, I like Gunn’s movies. Also, a DCU as good as the early MCU would be very nice indeed.

What do you think as James Gunn confirms Krypto the superdog is in Superman and that he’s Kryptonian? Thoughts below as always.
