Director James Gunn explains why there’s no Guardians 3 trailer online yet. There was footage shown at SDCC on Saturday and whilst I’ve seen bits of it, it’s not really found its way online yet. Some fans took to social media to bemoan the fact the trailer was not online. Blaming Marvel, James Gunn replied to set the record straight.
I wish you could have too. But it’s not just Marvel, it’s also me. Although I love the teaser some VFX aren’t where I’d want them to be for repeated views & close inspection – remember we didn’t wrap long ago – so you’ll have to wait just a beat! Sorry! https://t.co/NAz0gIedo8

I get it. There is absolutely a difference here. We all know for a fact if there was some dodgy CGI in that trailer and it was online, then there would be a thousand YouTube videos up already bemoaning the poor CGI and over analyzing the trailer.
I’m not having a go at those kind of videos as we here discussed some of the poor CGI on She-Hulk which was improved. The point is though, that it’s better to wait until it’s ready. Whenever that may be, it’ll likely be when Gunn is happy it’s in the right place. After all as Gunn himself says, they did only finishing shooting recently and there’s a hell of a lot of post-time left to go until the movie needs to be ready. However that’s likely not going to be something noticed by the live crowds at Comic -Con.

It’s kinda hard to argue against such simple logic isn’t it. I guess your damned if you do and damned if you don’t. However at least perhaps now, fans will understand exactly why this was kept as a SDCC exclusive. We’ll all get to see it soon enough I’m sure.
In the meantime feel free to check out my descriptions of the important parts of that footage. That article is already up a few hours ago on the front page.
