Marvel Studios Introduces The Multiverse Saga And The Path To The Culminating Avengers Films At SDCC 2022

There had been some rumblings around San Diego Comic-Con about what Marvel Studios would be bringing to the biggest pop culture party in the world. Especially knowing that D23 is right around the corner. Last night during the Hall H presentation fans was pleasantly surprised with the amount of information that was revealed. It was finally time to quiet all those people complaining the current phase four films did not feel connected and that there was no direction as to what the big threat was going to be.

The lovable Miss Minutes made an appearance to introduce Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios and chief creative officer of Marvel. He was joined by moderator Ash Crossan.

The biggest announcement of the night was the naming of the current and next two phases, officially titled, The Multiverse Saga. These will culminate with two all-new Avengers films both scheduled to be released in the same year. First Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, releasing in May 2, 2025. Followed by Avengers: Secret Wars, currently slated for November 7th, 2025. Now the path on how we get there is long but exciting!

Trailers and cast for both She-Hulk: Attorney At Law and Black Panther Wakanda Forever were dropped as well as some time with the cast. Each of those has its own piece on our site which you can go to by clicking on the titles in this paragraph. It was revealed that the Black Panther film would close out phase four for Marvel Studios.

Phase 5

This brings us to Phase five! This will officially start on February 17, 2023, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The cast of the film was also in attendance including Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Jonathan Majors and Kathryn Newton.

 

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Synopsis

Super Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and The Wasp. Together, with Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

Next up, the new series, Secret Invasion, is set to kick off in the spring of 2023 on Disney+. Cobie Smulders was on hand to talk about the series. She is back to reprise her role as Maria Hill. This series stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as the Skrull Talos. Along with Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Regé-Jean Page. This Marvel Studios series will showcase a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls that have been infiltrating Earth for years.

On to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3! Set to hit theaters on May 5th, 2023. This part of the panel was led by director James Gunn. Along with the cast members, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Will Poulter, and Maria Bakalova. Chukwudi Iwuji even showed up on stage in full costume as his character High Evolutionary.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Synopsis

In Marvel Studios “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are looking a bit different these days. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him to defend the universe along with protecting one of their own. A mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.

Other details about the previously announced phase five Disney+ series that are currently in production and slated for a 2023 release include Echo (Summer), Loki Season 2 (Summer), Ironheart (Fall), and Agatha: Coven of Chaos (Winter).

The two phase five films currently scheduled to be released in 2023 are The Marvels, directed by Nia DaCosta on July 28th, 2023. As well as Blade, which will begin filming this fall and is scheduled to premiere on November 3rd, 2023.

Feige also revealed three new Marvel Studios projects that has everyone excited. This includes the next Captain America film titled, Captain America: New World Order, which will continue to feature Sam Wilson as Captain America. This is slated for theaters on May 3rd, 2024.

The return of Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again. This is going to be a huge eighteen-episode season. It is currently slated for spring of 2024.

Then a film that a lot of fans had expected, Thunderbolts. This will be featuring an exciting new group of heroes. Currently scheduled for July 26, 2024.

Phase 6

The film that we have all been waiting for since Disney’s purchase of Fox, The Fantastic Four. Which now has a release date of November 8th, 2024. Production for the film starts next year. The Marvel Cinematic Universe will finally introduce us to Marvel’s most iconic family.

This is the way that we will have to go to get to the two massive Avengers films that we spoke about in the beginning. Marvel fans can now calm down and know that there was always a plan.
