Earlier Wednesday, DC Films boss James gun had to come out to deny a report released by a news outlet about some rumors they had heard from their “sources”. This comes after Patty Jenkins last night also had to release a statement about the truth behind her departure from Wonder Woman 3 after another outlet had also heard from their “sources”.
The point is that outlets claiming to have reliable sources have repeatedly released information that has proven to be false and further frustrated an already upset fanbase.
To counteract this mess, James Gunn went on the offensive this afternoon releasing a series of tweets, which included a few replies that gave fans some concrete information about what is to come from DC Films very soon.
He started by announcing that their lineup for DC is ready to go and when we could expect it.
“Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year,” said Gunn.
Gunn continued by giving some huge information about the future of Superman, really backing up his earlier message about the importance of the Man of Steel to the future of DC Films. This included a bombshell announcement that shook many fans.
“Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill,” said Gunn.
“But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future,” Gunn continued.

The following replies to some questions also informed us that this would not be an origin film. Also that he has already been working on this Superman project for “a while” and he doesn’t know who he is directing yet.
Speaking on directors, someone asked if it would be possible that former Batman Ben Affleck be the director, to which Gunn also responded.
“Met with Ben yesterday precisely because he wants to direct & we want him to direct; we just have to find the right project,” said Gunn.
By the sound of it, looks like DC Films is going to start from zero. Given how much baggage there is with the previous films that went through so many changes, might be the best idea. Luckily for us, we don’t have to wait long to learn more about the future of DC Films. Especially if it’s going to be coming from the head of DC Films and not an anonymous source.
