James Gunn Is Writing Peacemaker Season 2 And It Will Address DCU Switch

James Gunn has been on social media talking Peacemaker Season 2 and he says he has a 'way in' to explain how Season 2 is set in the DCU.

DC co-boss James Gunn is currently writing Peacemaker Season 2 and confirms it will address the DCU switch. Gunn, as he does took to social media platform Threads to answer some fan questions. In response to a fan posting about Peacemaker; ‘Season 2 PLEASE’, Gunn replied;

“Writing it now.”

He then followed that up with,

“I am. And I’m having so much fun.”

Then, in a reply to someone asking, ‘Will Season 2 of Peacemaker take place in the new DCU? Or, will it at least be addressed?’ Gunn replied;

“Yes and yes.”

None of this should be surprising information. We all knew Peacemaker Season 2 was coming and Gunn only recently confirmed John Cena and Freddie Stroma would reprise their roles in the DCU. The question is more how he will pull off this switch form the DCEU to the DCU. Peacemaker Season 1 sits in the same Universe as The Suicide Squad, which is loosely supposed to be the same one as the Justice League movie that began with Man of Steel. By the time Peacemaker Season 2 hits screens we should already have both Creature Commandos and Superman: Legacy released.

I guess given the comedic and sometimes surreal nature of Peacemaker, I think they could just hand wave it as a joke. However, perhaps Gunn will have Peacemaker and Vigilante somehow switch to another Universe where no one knows them yet? It remains to be seen for now.

All I’ll say is that Peacemaker was amazing, one of my favorite comic book based TV series for sure. I therefore look forward to seeing what insanity Gunn dreams up for Season 2. Peacemaker and Vigilante can just be DC’s answer to Deadpool as far as Multiverses go.

What do you think of the news James Gunn is currently writing Peacemaker Season 2 and confirms it will address the DCU switch? Thoughts below as always.
