James Gunn Loves Ant-Man And The Wasp

Being the first Marvel film released after an Avengers film can come with a bit of pressure and anxiousness. Iron Man 3 had the difficult task of living up to the hype of The Avengers. A few years later, Ant-Man had to attempt to ride the wave of Avengers: Age Of Ultron. While this writer enjoyed Iron Man 3, it’s no shock that the film had its level of criticism amongst fans, and Ant-Man, while successful, didn’t amount to the level of box office revenue that Marvel’s big names had achieved.

Now, Ant-Man & The Wasp will be hitting theaters just slightly over two months after the epic tragedy of Avengers: Infinity War, and while projections for the sequel are higher than the first film, some are wondering if it can match the level of entertainment that audiences experienced during Infinity War. To answer that, one of Marvel’s favorite directors has given his two cents on the Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly- duo flick.

Guardians Of The Galaxy James Gunn attended the Hollywood premiere of Ant-Man & The Wasp and gleefully posted a quick review on his Twitter account:

Considering it “hilarious, sweet, moving and wall-to-Wall fun”, Gunn had nothing but the highest praise for director Peyton Reed, Stars Rudd, Lilly and the rest of the cast. He even stated that it’s best to see it before seeing Avengers 4, which most likely means that there’s some sort of precursor in this film. Whether or not it’s in the story or somewhere in the end credits, one will have to wait and see.

Ant-Man & The Wasp opens nationwide on July 5th.
