James Gunn Recalls Executive’s Complaint About Bradley Cooper Voicing Rocket

Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn recalled the time a former Marvel/Disney executive questioned why they paid for Bradley Cooper, if he wasn’t going to be seen, and provided a voice most wouldn’t automatically recognize as being the actor. It seems as if the executive was unaware of the power a name on a poster. Gunn reminisced about the executive during an exchange with a fan on Twitter. You can check it out below.

I understand what the executive was saying, however, I completely disagree with him. Most Marvel fans are at least somewhat in-the-know of pop-culture. So I assume the majority of people wanting to watch the movie, knew Bradley Cooper was part of the cast. His name alone will draw people in. The fact that he doesn’t physically appear may be a significant draw in and of itself. Though I will admit if I didn’t know Cooper as the voice of Rocket and I had to guess, he wouldn’t be the first actor to come to my mind.

Bradley Cooper does a fantastic job as the furriest member of the Guardians, and now it would be almost impossible to imagine anyone else providing Rocket’s voice. The Guardians have come to be one of, if not my favorite franchise within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now that Gunn is back aboard we fans anxiously await Guardian of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Unfortunately, the film is now set for a November 2022 release, and likely won’t begin filming until earlier that year.
