James Wan Joins Hivemind’s TV Adaptation Of Image Comics’ Gideon Falls

One of my favorite books from Image Comics is making its way to television. The 2018 “Best New Series” winner at the 2019 Eisner Awards Gideon Falls from acclaimed creators Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino is being adapted into an hour-long horror drama by Hivemind who is also behind the production of the highly anticipated Netflix adaptation of The Witcher starring Henry Cavill.

Today, Hivemind announced that they will be teaming up with James Wan and his Atomic Monster production company for Gideon Falls. He will serve as executive producer on the series alongside Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Hivemind’s Jason Brown, Sean Daniel, Kathy Lingg, and Dinesh Shamdasani as well as Lemire and Sorrentino. Rob Hackett will oversee the project for Atomic Monster.

I cannot wait to see how they bring this project to life as it’s an atmospheric thriller colliding rural mystery and urban horror. It will be interesting to see how they handle a cast of seemingly random strangers that include a washed-up Catholic priest, a female sheriff and a young recluse that has an obsession with unraveling a conspiracy. They all become drawn to a mystery that is connected to a long-forgotten local legend.

“We are very excited about James Wan and Atomic Monster joining the GIDEON FALLS team,” said series co-creators Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. “James’ creative vision will be a wonderful fit for the world of GIDEON FALLS and to help adapt the series to television in a truly unique and exciting way.”

“To have a filmmaker of James Wan’s caliber, talent, and vision contributing to the atmospheric and terrifying world that Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino have created with GIDEON FALLS is nothing short of incredible,” said Hivemind co-founders Kathy Lingg, Dinesh Shamdasani, and Jason Brown. “This is a high-powered and formidable combination for one of the most acclaimed comic series of the decade, and James and his colleagues at Atomic Monster – Michael Clear and Rob Hackett – are the perfect partners to help bring our adaptation to life. Fans of GIDEON FALLS, rest assured: We have some incredible surprises yet in store.”

Wan, of course, is known for his work on the successful Conjuring Universe as well as his Aquaman film for Warner Bros. and is currently working on is tenth feature film titled Malignant. Hivemind has been very busy since being established in 2018. Along with this project and the already mentioned The Witcher for Netflix, they are also ready to debut the fourth season of Amazon Prime’s The Expanse this winter, which has also been renewed for a fifth season. They are also producing the upcoming feature film Bloodshot starring Vin Diesel for Sony Pictures.
