We live in an interesting time. In the past, characters generally stayed well within the boundaries of their own franchises. Very rarely did we see mammoth crossovers on the big and small screen, and very rarely were there constant questions about what constitutes canon or not.
Nowadays, we see the Disney princesses in their own projects, in movies like Ralph Breaks the Internet, and in the now-finished ABC series Once Upon a Time. If you’ll recall, a few years back, there was an arc that involved Elsa and Anna from Frozen. But with Frozen II now here, is that even canon?
“No, that’s not canon,” co-director Jennifer Lee told us at a press day event at Walt Disney Animation Studios (to read that full extensive cover story, CLICK HERE). “We didn’t see it. So I kinda made a point of certain things not to see so it wouldn’t affect us that way. Frozen 1 and Frozen 2 to me are one complete story and that’s really where we stay.”
So, if you have some distant hopes of seeing that storyline acknowledge…you’ll be sorely disappointed. I’m not sure if there’s anyone out there who actually thought that, but if you did, I apologize.
