James Wan Tackling A Horror Film Before Aquaman 2

James Wan made a name for himself in the film industry by co-creating and directing one of the most-talked about films in horror, Saw. While staying on as producer for the franchise, Wan went on to continue to add to the genre of scares with Dead SilenceInsidious, and The Conjuring. Then, Wan switched gears (upcoming pun) and directed the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise before joining the DC universe and helming Aquaman.

Now, after the success of both Aquaman and The Conjuring 2, Wan looks to helm one more scary movie before dipping his toes back in Atlantis. According to Deadline, Wan is set to direct, co-write, and produce the currently untitled horror film for New Line Cinema. The following comes directly from the news source:

The plot is under wraps for a screenplay he’ll co-write with Ingrid Bisu, and that he’ll produce through the Atomic Monster banner with Michael Clear.

While Bisu has a couple of writing credits, she has more work under her belt as an actress, having recently appeared in 2018’s The Nun, which Wan co-wrote and produced. Additionally, Clear has produced alongside Wan for the films Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation—both films helmed by Shazam director David F. Sandberg—as well as The Nun.

Once again working with familiar names, it will be interesting what sort of scary story Wan has in store for his audience. Wan is easily one of the best names in the current era of horror, he has proven that he can go outside is usually area of expertise—Furious 7 and Aquaman are proof of that. Fans will have to wait and see what he has planned for this film, as well as the rumored third installment of The Conjuring series.
