I thought Sony was being ambitious when it was revealed that they’d be including Spider-Man Noir, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, and Peni Parker in the critically-acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, but it looks like they are upping the ante for the recently-confirmed untitled sequel.
One fan asked the creative team behind the upcoming superhero sequel if another beloved iteration of the character would making its way to the big screen in animated form: Japanese Spider-Man. Producer Phil Lord replied, telling fans that the character has indeed been designed.

While we love our adaptations to be faithful as all hell, there was a time when Marvel was totally cool with their properties being flexible with the demographics of the country in which it is being adapted. In the case of the Japanese Spider-Man, you had a character with robots and a dark backstory
