The latest Barside Buzz from the GFFA is that Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie is next to film and will start in Fall, 2025. The information comes from insider Daniel RPK on Patreon. However, there has been Buzz in the leaks community recently about what happens next with Star Wars films.
Let’s start with what Daniel said which was that he’s heard Levy’s Star Wars movie will begin filming Fall of 2025. By my count, that means this will follow The Mandalorian and Grogu. Being the second movie to film since the disaster that was The Rise of Skywalker. Daniel also says he’s heard the story has been changed a little from the original pitch.
Now, the rumors about that pitch is that Levy was aiming to do something with an older Rey. However, Simon Kinberg’s trilogy also reportedly wants to use Rey. In addition there was a Rey sequel movie which had no completed script.

So, the current buzz is that Levy’s film will start with a younger Rey, like the Rey Sequel. This then allows a slightly older Rey to be present in the Simon Kinberg trilogy. It also is starting to look like the Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Rey sequel is not happening. I assume Levy is directing his own movie. Though, since Kinberg can’t direct worth a jot, I wonder if Obaid-Chinoy has been offered one of his movies? Saying that, I’m not a fan of Kinberg’s writing either, but it isn’t my call folks.
So, the Buzz is that Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie is next and will film in Fall, 2025? What do you think of this rumor? Thoughts below as always.
