According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jared Leto is set to reprise his role as DC’s Clown Prince of Crime in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Additional shooting for the film is currently underway and it is set to air next year on HBO Max.
Unfortunately, Leto’s version of the character is not a fan favorite. Now I’m sure there are people out there who hold this Joker as their favorite, but I am not one of them,. and I don’t put all the blame on Leto, his performance wasn’t necessarily bad, but the appearance is incredibly off-putting. I also like the Joker as a criminal mastermind. Leto’s Joker came off as more of middle management.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League will be the director’s original vision for the film. Snyder had to leave the production of the Justice League to deal with a family tragedy. Joss Whedon was brought on to finish the film. This cut was not well-received. And sometime after the release whispers of a ‘Snyder Cut‘ began to make their way around the internet.
Persistent fans along with other factors eventually made Snyder Cut, now titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League a reality. Leto joining the cast is bittersweet for me. As I said, I’m not a fan of his Joker, but I’m not going to beat the guy up about. Having said that it will be nice to have the Joker in the film.
