Jessica Chastain and Ralph Fiennes star in the new film The Forgiven. Based on the novel with the same title by Lawrence Osborne. The story of a fragile couple whose life changes in the course of a quick holiday trip.
The Synopsis
Speeding through the Moroccan desert to attend an old friend’s lavish weekend party, wealthy Londoners David and Jo Henninger (Ralph Fiennes, “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and Jessica Chastain, “Zero Dark Thirty”) are involved in a tragic accident with a local teenage boy. Arriving late at the grand villa with the debauched party raging, the couple attempts to cover up the incident with the collusion of the local police. But when the boy’s father arrives seeking justice, the stage is set for a tension-filled culture clash in which David and Jo must come to terms with their fateful act and its shattering consequences.

essica Chastain is known for her roles feminists leading roles. Perhaps she learned from an early age growing up with a struggling single mother. That didn’t stop her from finding her passion since the age of seven. After attending Sacramento City College she joined The American Academy of Dramatic Arts that led her to audition for Juilliard School in New York and was a graduate in 2003. Chastain’s debut was in an episode of ER while her film debut was in Jolene. Today the actress is known for projects like The Tree of Life, A Most Violent Year, Molly’s Game and HBO’s Scenes from a Marriage.

As most English talent Ralph Fiennes started his acting career in theater after attending Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. His debut on screen was in 1992 for Wuthering Heights. The following was his year of recognition with films like The Baby of Mâcon and Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List. Project that earned him an Academy Award and Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Since then he has done several films like The English Patient, Maid in Manhattan, Harry Potter films, three James Bond films. Later this year Fiennes will appear in The Menu with Anya Taylor-Joy.

With the release of The Forgiven I was connected with Jessica Chastain and Ralph Fiennes to talk about the film. Chastain spoke about her input for a line from the novel that she was passionate about. While Fiennes talked about his character and what he appreciated about the storyline.
The Forgiven hits theaters July 1, 2022 in North America. In UK cinemas this September.
