Jessica Chastain To Produce And Star In Action Film Eve

Jessica Chastain may be hard at work on IT: Chapter 2, but that hasn’t kept her from locking down future deals. The latest comes in the form of a film called Eve, which is being coined as a character-driven action movie. According to Variety, Chastain will star in and produce the film through her Freckle Films production company alongside Voltage Pictures.

Set to direct is Matthew Newton, who also wrote the script and saw Chastain as his first choice to take on the role, as he revealed in a statement:

“I have always admired Jessica Chastain’s work. So when I wrote Eve, an intelligent, strong, and incredibly capable character, she was my immediate first choice to bring her to life. I am humbled and thrilled to be collaborating with Jessica and Voltage on the film.”

Chastain, along with Freckle Films partner Kelly Carmichael made the following joint statement:

“Matthew is wonderfully adept at crafting complex and relatable characters. We’ve been fans of his work and are so thrilled to be partnering with him and Voltage on Eve.”

Sadly, there aren’t any details regarding the actual plot of the movie, but his last film, Who We Are Now scored well with the critics (at least with most of the 16 who had a chance to actually check it out), so his talent isn’t to be ignored. It’s always interesting to see a more indie director take on a wholly different genre. Will his skills actually transfer well to a more action-oriented piece?
