Jessica Meraz Cast As DC Villain For The CW’s Supergirl

The CW’s Supergirl had her mid-season finale episode Bunker Hill last Sunday as we are gearing up for the Arrowverse crossover Elseworlds this weekend. But the production team on Supergirl are hard at work casting various characters to the series. For example, Azie Tesfai will be joining the cast as James Olsen’s sister Kelly Olsen and Hannah James will be playing the sister and mother of Nia Nal. Today we got news of another character that has been cast for the Supergirl series.

According to Deadline, Jessica Meraz will be joining the cast as Pamela Ferrer aka Menagerie. In comics, she is a Puerto Rican woman with metamorphosis powers as she has control over alien lifeforms called symbeasts that she can control to take any shape. The origins of her character’s powers are unknown. Her character first appeared in comics in Action Comics #775 in March of 2001 in an arc titled, What’s So Funny About Truth, Justice & The American Way? It was written by Joe Kelly with artwork by Doug Mahnke and Lee Bermejo. Menagerie was recruited by Manchester Black for his Elite.

The casting of Menagerie’s character has been described as a jewel thief that does not mind hurting people and connects her to Black’s Elite. It is possible that her powers could be developed on the series via Lena Luthor’s experiments that she has been conducting on people. But then again she could also be an alien. For now it is unknown when this villain will be making her debut.

Supergirl can be seen in the Arrowverse crossover that begins this Sunday at 8pm on The CW with a special episode The Flash, then Monday at the same time on Arrow and concluding with Supergirl with a special Tuesday episode also at 8pm.
