Today via Variety we got more casting news for this series. They are reporting that Joel McHale has been cast as Sylvester Pemberton aka Starman in a recurring role. The role is being described as “Golden Age Starman”. He is a courageous and confident member of the Justice Society of America. He is known for having a mysterious ant-gravity weapon called the cosmic staff. He has a sidekick named Pat Dugan aka Stripesy, who happens to be the stepfather of Courtney Whitmore.
Some of McHale’s film credits include The Happytime Murders, A Merry Figgin Christmas, Deliver Us From Evil and Assassination Nation. But he is also very well known as the host for The Soup and then later on Netflix’s The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale. His resume doesn’t stop there as he also has scripted television credits like Community, The Great Indoors and the latest The X-Files revival. McHale is repped by UTA and ZIffren Brittenham.
Stargirl is based on the DC Comics’ character created by Geoff Johns, who will also serve as the showrunner, writer for the premiere episode and executive producer along with Greg Berlanti. It is being produced by Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
