Just a week or so ago, John Carpenter promoted the new Spotify playlist titled Halloween 2018 Playlist (Official). In it, the playlist contains a few tracks from the classic film’s soundtrack as well as other scores and original compositions by Carpenter and scores from other films as a way to set the mood for the upcoming film. Carpenter also stated that music from the upcoming film’s score, composed by he, his son Cody and Daniel Davies, would be added periodically to the playlist.
That time has begun.
On Twitter Wednesday, Carpenter tweeted out that the track “The Shape Returns” has been added to the Spotify playlist, placed at the very top.

Cody Carpenter has two solo original albums to his name, but the upcoming Halloween marks his first time working on a motion picture score. Daniel Davies has worked with John Carpenter on his Lost Themes and Lost Themes II albums, as well as having worked with rock bands Year Long Disaster, Karma To Burn and CKY. Davies is the son of guitarist Dave Davies of The Kinks and godson of John Carpenter. Therefore, not only does the legendary writer/director/composer get to be a part of the 40th anniversary sequel to his classic, but he also gets to make it a family affair this time around.
Currently sitting at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, Halloween hits theaters October 19th nationwide.
