John Cena Returns To WWE SmackDown In Two Weeks

The road to WrestleMania officially kicked off a few weeks ago after my favorite PPV (if you can still call it a PPV) The Royal Rumble. Of course this is an exciting time as we see year long story lines finally resolved. Of course the last few years it has been a little strange as now Saudi Arabia shows put a giant roadblock in the way of their plans or sometimes diminish “the showcase of the immortals”, like last year when they claimed that their Saudi Arabia show would be better than Wrestlemania (it wasn’t). This year there are already a ton of rumors of certain superstars returning for at least one more match, one of those latest rumors is Sting and The Undertaker.

Something that is not a rumor was an announcement that was made in Tuesday nights edition of WWE Backstage on FS1 by Renee Young, where she announced that John Cena will be returning to WWE SmackDown on FOX on Friday, February 28th the day after the company returns from their latest Saudi Arabia show. This will be a perfect location for his return as SmackDown will be taking place in Boston Massachusetts that night, Cena’s hometown. You can check out the announcement down below!

Cena makes his return right in time to get a feud started for Wrestlemania 36 in April but there is still one more stop before that which will be The Elimination Chamber on March 8th. Could he be one of the six to try and challenge for the right to face “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt? The last time that Cent was in action in the ring was on January 14th, 2020 on WWE RAW. What was significant about last year for Cena was that he had an impressive streak end. Going back to 2002, Cena had wrestled on at least one PPV event every year.

This of course comes as like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Cena has taken his talents to Hollywood. In late 2018 he starred in Paramounts’ Bumblebee and was just recently revealed as Vin Diesel’s character Dominic Toretto’s brother in Fast and Furious 9 and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was in the next few. Currently he is also working on James Gunn’s Suicide Squad.

Who would you like to see Cena face at Wrestlemania 36? Let us know in the comment section below!

WWE’s “showcase of the immortals”, Wrestlemania 36 takes place at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, April 5th, 2020.
