Who would’ve expected that the first John Wick movie would actually be any good? This was a movie that sold itself on its star Keanu Reeves — a star who’s had an incredibly hit-or-miss career. Would we be able to buy Reeves as a badass gun-toting assassin? Well, consider us surprised, because the answer was a resounding “hell yes†on all fronts.
Not only did the movie had heart-pounding gun-fu action going on, but it had just the right amount of story. It wasn’t a lot, by any means, but it was the bare minimum required to give the character some depth. We didn’t just want to see John Wick kick some assassin tail, but we wanted to avenge that poor puppy of his.
Given the success of the first film, a sequel seemed inevitable. With it, came the huge question as to whether or not the filmmakers would be able to capture lightning in a bottle twice. On board to direct this time around is only one-half of the original directing duo, Chad Stahelski, but from what we’ve seen so far, it all looks oh-so-promising.
Now, the studio has released a new TV spot, wherein John Wick promises to “kill them all.â€
Looks pretty solid to us. Let’s just hope that John Wick: Chapter 2 has the same delicate balance between story and action that made the first one better than your run-of-the-miller revenge tale.
Below is the synopsis for the film:
“Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back outof retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers. Lionsgate’s John Wick: Chapter 2 arriving in theaters on February 10, 2017.â€
