According to Omega Underground, John Wick: Chapter 3 is currently in the midst of pre-production, and will be heading into the casting stage very soon.
Production for this threequel was originally rumored to begin shooting this fall. However, with its release date set for May 17, 2019, it’s likely that production is getting shifted until the summer.
The outlet goes on to say that it had to do with scheduling. With a franchise like this, the studio is doing their best to make sure as much of the original core creative team, including producer and uncredited co-director of the first film, David Leitch (who is currently working on Deadpool 2), is there to help out.
John Wick: Chapter 3 is the anticipated sequel to John Wick and John Wick: Chapter 2. The films so far follow the assassin appropriately named John Wick (duh), after he is brought out of retirement, following the death of his wife, and murder of his dog.
The first mid-budget film that could started off as a dumb-looking action flick, but once it actually hit theaters, it became clear to fans that not only was the action slick, but the core emotional story was strong, and mythology behind it all was ever-intriguing.
A franchise was born, and with John Wick: Chapter 3, they’re continuing on with this grand tradition of high-action.
