Johnny Storm Return Is An Easier Sell Than Cap Says Chris Evans

According to Chris Evans, a Johnny Storm return is an easier sell than Cap to him. Evans of course has ended his long stint as the MCU’s Steve Rogers, aka Captain America in Avengers: Endgame. The moniker has now moved on to Sam Wilson in the MCU, and Steve got old and retired with Peggy. That ending is dear to Chris Evans and he has spoken about how a Cap return would have to be something ‘very special’ to even get him to think about it.

However, when speaking recently with MTV News, Evans said that a Johnny Storm return would actually be an easier sell to him. Though he did point out, unlike some rumors said, that no one has ever approached him from Marvel about that. Evans would consider it though he says, if it was some Multiversal gubbins. Asked if he had thought about it, and was he ever asked Evans seemed keen to explore it further.

Video below the transcript, time stamp is around 08:00.

“Wouldn’t that be great? Wouldn’t that be great?”

“No, no ones ever come to me about that. I mean I don’t exactly looks the same anymore, that was 15-20 years ago. My god I’m old. I love that character. But aren’t they doing something with that now, with Fantastic Four?”

The interviewer then prompts that anything is possible within the Multiverse now.

“Yeah I guess that’s true, I guess all bets are off. Look, I would love it, I would love it. That would actually be an easier sell to me than coming back as Cap, you know what I mean? Cap is so precious to me, and I almost don’t want to disrupt what a beautiful experience that was. But Johnny Storm I feel like he really didn’t get his day. That was before Marvel found its footing. So I love that role, and who knows?”

I wonder if Feige watched this and thinks, ‘I should have used Evans in Multiverse of Madness’? That really seemed like the perfect place for something fun like this to happen. Of course, we cannot say for certain where the Multiverse plot lines are all going? Perhaps there is an opportunity farther down the line? I’m sure Feige will have taken note of Evans enthusiasm here.

Chris Evans says a Johnny Storm return is an easier sell than Cap. What do you think, would you like to see Evans return as Johnny for a movie in the MCU? Is that a little too meta, even for the Multiverse? Finally, like me do you hope one day, not for a while, to see an old man Cap story with Evans? Thoughts below, or over on Discord as always.
