It’s been a slow roll of information regarding the upcoming, and final, Peaky Blinders Season 6. However, January brings us some nuggets of information to hype the season. As Paul Anderson (Arthur Shelby) alluded this past week that airing appears to be sometime this month (February). The release of the trailer and this news from Anderson already peaked my interest. But today, the official Peaky Blinders Instagram page came calling for fans to join the Birmingham gang prior to the Season 6 release!
When the Peaky Blinders give orders, you have to follow. What exactly is the competition? No clue. However, I look to find out Wednesday at 7:30 am GMT. That means it should already be up and running by the time I wake up here in EST. I really hope this isn’t something that just people in England can be a part of. I always enjoy the fan interactive promotions starting back when The Dark Knight had them.
Either way, I am ready for Peaky Blinders Season 6. As mentioned, we do know that this will be the series finale. However, creator Steven Knight did meet with Empire to discuss the future of the franchise. Many know that the original concept was to have the series take place between the two wars. While some of this concept is still in place, Knight knows that there is a potential way to carry on into World War II. When speaking to Empire he suggests:
“It was always Britain between the wars – how the lesson from one war was not learned and was repeated. It’s also the end of empire: we enter the Second World War and by the end of it, there is no empire, really. But I… have revised the scope of what it is. It will now go into and beyond the Second World War. Because I just think the energy that is out there in the world for this, I want to keep it going, and I want to see how this can progress beyond that.”
Now this does not necessarily mean Tommy Shelby and the immediate family will make it. He goes on to add: “I think of this sixth series as the end of the beginning.” I have a feeling that our originally family will not make it into WWII. However, I would think they would at least try to make the movie with some of the big guns from the original cast. After that I could see them moving into the younger generation. But damn the original cast is good. As always, the mystery around the series and how long characters will last will continue.
