What is perhaps DC’s most interesting film to hit in front of cameras since The Dark Knight has officially wrapped. Okay, so maybe we’ve already reported on this in the past, but director Todd Phillips has since taken to social media to confirm our previous reports.
In the tweet, Phillips shows off a picture of himself against a grimy backdrop. Of course, he thanks all those involved, saying, “That’s a wrap on production. Thanks to the greatest crew NYC has to offer. It was a fun shoot — but we’re not there yet. #editingroom.”

Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix as the titular Clown Prince of Crime, but he won’t be alone. Also joining him for this journey are Zazie Beetz, Robert De Niro, Marc Maron, Shea Whigham, and many others. Unlike other films recently put out by Warner Bros., this one won’t take place in the established DC Extended Universe, but will instead take place in its own little pocket universe, and will be a complete standalone (of course, unless the studio tries to milk it).
As Phillips said, they aren’t there yet. They still have to edit the thing, but if you were somehow still unconvinced this one would make it to theaters, you can put that theory to rest.
