Todd Phillip’s Joker film that stars Joaquin Phoneix as the classic Batman villain has slowly gained steam throughout the months, as it will take an outside the box look at the Clown Prince of Crime’s origin story away from the DCEU. In a big surprise we had learned that Warner Bros. would be skipping out on a Hall H presentation at this year’s annual San Diego Comic-Con, which this year celebrates 50 years. One of the films that would be an obvious choice to showcase would have been Joker with it only a few months away from it’s release date in October.
Less than two weeks away from the big convention, Empire Magazine has a new cover that features an eerie image of Phoenix’s character Arthur Fleck that was released via Twitter. It shows both sides of the character, but with the Joker persona very out of focus. Check it out below!

Since the release of it’s first trailer, we have not heard much about the Joker film. It will be interesting to see if Warner Bros. will wait until after all of the San Diego hype to release another trailer, or if it will happen before then. Hopefully this is the beginning of the marketing campaign as I am really looking forward to more about this film.
Along with Phoenix, Joker stars Zazie Beetz, Bill Camp, Frances Conroy, Brett Cullen, Glenn Fleshler, Douglas Hodge, Marc Maron, Josh Pais and Shea Whigham based on a script written by Phillips and Scott Silver.
