Everyone is waiting to see exactly what Joker will be like. The film is set to show the origin (well, a version of it) of the most famous Batman villain this October, and it’s been generating buzz ever since the film was announced. The first images, costume screen test, and trailer all added fuel to the curiosity fire. Still three months away from hitting the theaters for general audiences, there’s now a rumor the film may debut at the Venice Film Festival which starts on August 28th. There’s also Oscar buzz.

The Venice Film Festival has hosted three of the last five Best Picture winners from the Oscar’s, and Joker’s unique approach to a comic book character has people expecting DC to grab a real Oscar next year. I say real because Suicide Squad’s Best Achievement in Makeup and Hair Styling is a joke… yeah I did that. While Killer Croc was a good practical effect, the rest of the cast’s costume’s were nothing special. Star Trek: Beyond had many more unique looking creatures and characters.
I must admit that I am incredibly curious about Joker and its take on the iconic character. I also wonder if this will set up a younger Joker to take on Robert Pattinson’s Batman in The Batman. WB and DC are all over the place when it comes to a shared universe and multiverse, so anything is possible.
