Joseph Kosinski May Direct Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo’

Sci-fi director Joseph Kosinski is looking for something different and “Gran Turismo” may be that movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kosinski is in early talks with Sony Pictures to adapt the PlayStation video game on to the big screen.

Plot details are scarce since the video game is simply a racing game with a variety of vehicles. Back in 2013, “Gran Turismo” video game series lead designer mentioned the movie will be about a video gamer turned into a car racer.

The project’s script was originally penned by Alex Tse. However, sources told THR that if Kosinski boards the project then he may just develop a new script.

In the past couple of years, Kosinski tried to develop a racing based on the A.J. Baime’s book called, “Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans.” Since Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise both passed on the project—Kosinski abandoned the project.

Kosinski is still circling the remake of the 1979’s “The Black Hole,” Universal’s “The Trials of White Boy Rick,” “Tron 3” and another “Twilight Zone” movie.
