Writing this, I had a realization that I don’t watch enough romantic movies. Sure, I’ve seen the recent classics, Along Came Polly, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Wedding Crashers, Meet the Fockers. And my all-time favorite? As Good as It Gets. But lately? I haven’t been seeking them out. What’s up with that? Anyone got some good recommendations?
I’ll tell you what, though and here’s what caught my attention. Julia Stiles, aka Nicky from the Bourne franchise, is making her directorial debut. That alone is intriguing. But then I saw the cast list. And as a longtime Frasier fan, let’s just say I might have to track this film down.
Check out the synopsis and trailer for Wish you Were Here.
SYNOPSIS:
Julia Stiles makes her directorial debut in a brilliantly warm and romantic film based on the bestselling novel, Wish You Were Here. Isabelle Fuhrman, Mena Massoud, Jennifer Grey and Kelsey Grammer star in a fascinating movie about leaving the everyday world behind to take a chance on true romance. When the perfect night with a perfect stranger ends suddenly the next morning, Charlotte searches for answers and meaning in her disappointing life until she uncovers a secret that changes everything.
Wish You Were Here stars Isabelle Fuhrman (The Novice, Orphan), Mena Massoud (Aladdin, The Royal Treatment), Jimmie Fails (The Last Black Man in San Francisco, Borderline), Gabby Kono-Abdy (“Baker’s Dozen,” NIghthawks), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and Kelsey Grammer (“Cheers,” “Frasier”).
But what about you folks? Are you looking forward to it? I’ll tell you what, I’ve got a wish. One day, I hope someone brings Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, and Owen Wilson back together for one of those early 2000s rom-coms. You know, the kind that had all the laughs and just enough heart. And man, it’s such a shame Philip Seymour Hoffman is gone. Can you imagine him stealing the show one more time? Making it rain like only he could? What a loss.
