It looks like we’ll be in for a change of scenery for the next Jumanji film. Of course, the first movie from the ’90s took place in a suburban town, and over the course of it, jungle elements started sprouting around everywhere. The second recent film upped the ante, taking us directly to the jungle ourselves, where our heroes had to play their way out of the video game. It was inevitable that we’d be getting a real change of scenery for the next film.

Enter the currently-untitled Jumanji 3, which will see the main cast return, including Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart. Ever the social media marketer, Johnson took to Instagram to share a first look at the cast in their new habitat. He posted a few photos with each of the other cast members, and shown prominently in the background of all is the desert landscape.

In true Rock format, the man gave plenty of heartfelt compliments to his co-stars, celebrating their hard work and talent.

There are no details yet as to what the plot of Jumanji 3 will involve or why they are switching to a desert landscape, but it was much needed. As great as the jungle aesthetic is, for the third movie, it’ll certainly help to change things up. My guess is that it’ll be another level in a video game, but as far as “why” it’s only coming to the forefront now, I’ll leave it for the movie to answer.
