Jumanji 3 Has Begun Filming, The Rock Celebrates With Tweet

I never would have expected that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle would be as good as it well. And even if I knew, you couldn’t have convinced me that it held its own against Star Wars: The Last Jedi as it did. And yet that’s exactly what it did, taking in nearly $1 billion worldwide. It was a feat that was a result of a variety of things coming together: a fun script, solid direction, great cast, and more.

It was inevitable that we would be getting a sequel, and it was something that Sony jumped on quickly. Given the video game-esque nature of the story, there was honestly endless opportunity to exploit this in a unique way, so it’s not exactly a stretch to find neat ways to exploit the premise. And now, they’re well underway, as star Dwayne Johnson shared in a tweet.

The post hit yesterday during Valentine’s Day, and honestly I’m a bit surprised. This is a film that’s set to hit theaters this coming December — so that doesn’t give them a whole lot of time to shoot this thing, edit it, and do all the post necessary to make a polished product. But maybe they’re working with a lot of practical stuff, so the VFX in post won’t be as much of a concern.
