Jumanji: The VR Adventure Will Become More Widely Accessible

Last month, Sony Pictures released the game, Jumanji: The VR Adventure in 50 arcades. Now teaming up with Survios, Sony can potentially reach far more locations in over 30 countries. Coinciding with the worldwide success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Sony wants as many people around the world as possible to be able to experience the game.

Jake Zim, Sony Pictures VR SVP:

“Sony Pictures Virtual Reality is leading the way to build a new, multi-tiered distribution model for virtual reality. For the first time, with Jumanji: The VR Adventure, we are enabling audiences around the world to experience VR in locations and in-home on a variety of channels.”

Survios Chief Business Officer Seth Gerson:

“We found a great partner in Sony which shares our vision of expanding VR’s global reach through great content and experiences. Jumanji is a beloved film that’s perfectly set in virtual reality, and we’re excited to bring the experience into our distribution network, that gives the franchise access to the largest location-based VR audience.”

Later this month, Jumanji: The VR Adventure, will head to platforms such as HTC Vive and perhaps the most well known VR headset, Oculus Rift. In addition to the aforementioned platforms, Sony will also bring the game home to PlayStation VR next month.

I am yet to have much experience with VR, but the platform does interest me. I have been lucky enough to briefly check out some lower-end devices in one of my classes, though still haven’t got my hands on the Oculus Rift.
