Just Cause Adaptation Gets John Wick Creator To Pen Screenplay

The past couple of days have been pretty solid for video game lovers. Recently, the Sony faithful have received news that the company has created the studio PlayStation Productions, where they will develop and produce their own movies based on their over 100 original properties. That’s some solid news for fans of Sony, but there’s also been plenty of progress made on some other fronts — in this case, Just Cause.

The action-adventure franchise, which was introduced to the world back in the PS2/Xbox/Xbox 360 era with the first game in 2006, and has since spawned three sequels, the most recent of which hit consoles this past December. The franchise as a whole has shipped over 26 million units worldwide, and looks to be the perfect vehicle for a new action star.

According to Deadline, the feature rights have been acquired by Constantin Film, who has hired Derek Kolstad to pen the script. Kolstad is notable as the creator of John Wick and the screenwriter behind all three movies so far, so the man knows his way around an action script.

Constantin will be teaming up with Prime Universe Films to bring the movie to life, in hopes that it will spawn an action franchise.
