Okay, so I’m fairly confident my sarcastic tone didn’t really come across in this title, so I think I need to say upfront that I wasn’t being completely serious in calling it a “shocker.” When I saw Batman v Superman back in 2016 and we were treated to the bizarre Knightmare sequence right before The Flash hopped in at the wrong point in the timeline, it was clear that time travel was going to have a big role to play in the story to come. Unlike the MCU, these movies would function more like TV shows.
Sadly, it was never meant to be. I was one of the lone people out there who really enjoyed Batman v Superman and the potential foundation it laid, but the movies themselves weren’t standalone enough to warrant their continuation. As a result, it’s not shocking to me that time travel would be playing a vital role in the original version of Justice League.

Yesterday, Zack Snyder took to his social media platform of choice (Vero, for some reason), and shared an interesting photo of Cyborg looking back at himself and his parents. Check out the photo below:
So, what does this have to do with time travel? Fans bombarded Snyder with questions regarding the context of the shot, and Snyder replied, basically saying that Victor initially fails at preventing the Unity of the Mother Boxes. The Flash goes back in time to allow Victor to give it another go, and in the process, the Mother Box almost tries to tempt him and prevent him from stopping the Unity.
This certainly adds a whole other layer to the ending that was pretty much missing to Justice League. As cool as all this stuff was, fans can’t seem to remember how much they hated Batman v Superman when it came out, so maybe it was all still for the best, when all said and done.
