I’ve thought for a while now that we are long overdue for a new Cheech and Chong movie. Yes, I know Cheech Marin worked pretty hard to shake the stoner persona, however, with properties being rebooted and continued nowadays (I know, most productions are being shut down at the moment, but I am thinking this project would be after the world gets right again), why not one last big-screen adventure for the famous duo?

As it turns out, one half of another famous stoner duo, Kal Penn, who plays Kumar in the Harold and Kumar franchise, has expressed his desire to bring his team back. Penn recently spoke with Variety and you can check out his thoughts on a new film below.

“I feel like it’s gotta be a streamer because people just love watching [these movies] in the comfort of their own home on a Friday night at 2 a.m., which is more streaming ‘binge-able’ than it is going to the theater.”

Penn continued:

“We would love to do a fourth movie. John Cho and I text about it all the time. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg — who created and wrote all three movies in the franchise — we all would love to do one. I think we all, thankfully, have the blessing of being really busy right now and want to find the right venue and the right timing.”

I bet you can see where I am going with this. Both sets of pot-loving pals should combine forces for one epic film. The basic premise would be, “Harold and Kumar Meet Cheech and Chong.” Cheech and Chong could be their famous celebrity selves (or they could be their movie characters) and have Harold and Kumar somehow run into them. And then, you guessed it, hilarity high on hijinx ensues.
