Kevin Feige And Tom Holland Talk Spider-Man Split And Leave Our Spider-Senses Sad

When Will Tom Holland Quit Spider-Man? Actor Ponders The Answer

The Marvel and Sony split has remained the biggest news in the movie world this weekend, overshadowing almost everything that Disney has revealed during D23. Whilst Holland and Feige were both present at the expo, nothing was mentioned around Spider-Man on stage. However, EW caught up with both Marvel Studios Head and the young Spider-Man star, and if anything, their comments make the deal sound even deader than it felt before.

You can check the video in the social media post below, but here is the transcript of what they both say if you don’t have time to watch it yourself.

Firstly Kevin Feige on the whole Spider-Man situation, who talked about just being grateful to have got to make two standalone Spider-Man movies as well as having him appear in three Avengers movies before adding.

“It was a dream that I never thought would happen. It was never meant to last forever, we knew there was a finite amount of time that we’d be able to do this, and we told the story we wanted to tell, and I’ll always be thankful for that.”

Unfortunately, that does not sound like a man who has any hope of a deal being agreed, but who knows, there is always hope until they announce that next Spider-Man movie, isn’t there?

Although, Tom Holland’s comments don’t really give us any positive vibes either,

“Basically, we’ve made five great movies, it’s been five amazing years. I’ve had the time of my life. Who knows what the future holds? But all I know is that I’m going to continue playing Spider-Man and having the time of my life. It’s going to be so fun, however we choose to do it. The future for Spider-Man will be different, but it will be equally as awesome and amazing, and we’ll find new ways to make it even cooler.”

No, that does not sound very positive if you are a fan of having Spidey remain in the MCU. It does certainly look like the die has been cast and Spider-Man will once again go his separate way leaving behind a mere dream of what might have been had Marvel had the rights to all of their characters. At the same time, Sony is a business who bought Spider-Man from Marvel for the express purpose of making money from the franchise. If their internal analysts feel like they can make more money on their own than they can with the deal Marvel is offering, then I can’t blame them.

Saying that, if Sony ends up delivering utter garbage, again, and the profits do not materialize, then they have made a huge error in my opinion. Especially if the rumored 25% offer form Marvel is real, and not just the 50/50 split we initially heard about.
