Quentin Tarantino May Do A Five-Episode TV Series And A Play Before Final Film

Much has been discussed and written about regarding Quentin Tarantino’s potential legacy as a filmmaker. In recent years, however, those discussions have become a bit more set in stone as he readies for retirement. With Once Upon a Time in Hollywood being his ninth film, audiences are bracing themselves for whatever his tenth will be, as there’s a good chance it will be his last one.

But if you’re worried that Tarantino will go on to become a hermit who hordes creative to himself, then you have nothing to fear. He’s always insisted he’d do stuff like film criticism, novels, plays, and maybe even TV shows. In a recent interview with the outlet Konbini, he went as far as to give an update on a couple of new projects he has finished outside of film that could eventually take up his time. He even goes on to clarify that by “no movies,” he means theatrically-released movies.

“I wrote a play. Yeah, I want to do a play. I’ve written a five-episode TV series. And so I think before I figure out the next movie I’ll probably do the play and maybe do the TV series. It might either be a TV series or a TV movie, but it’s designed for television.”

While I can’t say I make it out to the theatre too often to see plays, his name is one that would get me more interested in doing so. The problem, for me, with plays is accessibility. If you’re out in the middle of nowhere, it’s often hard to make it to a city big enough to check out one of the bigger ones, which is quite unfortunate.

However, in regards to television…I cannot wait to see what a TV series would look like under the guidance of Tarantino. Additionally, a part of me is curious as to what he considers to be a “TV movie.” Why does he feel this project is better suited for TV as opposed to the big screen?
