We have always assumed that Doctor Strange would at some point get a sequel movie. Since the Sorcerer supreme was introduced back in 2016’s Doctor Strange, the character played by Benedict Cumberbatch has also appeared in Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War. Whilst Strange was only a small part of Thor: Ragnarok, he was one of the major players in this year’s smash hit Infinity War.
But what about a Doctor Strange 2, we have so far heard no confirmation either way, but then we also don’t know much about Marvels plans after Avengers 4 hits the big screen next year. Now Kevin Feige (who probably at this pointy needs no introduction as the head honcho at Marvel Studios) has said that Doctor Strange 2 will definitely happen. Here is what Feige said when talking to Cinemablend.
“Sometimes it’s where do those characters pop up? Strange, you know, whenever we do another Strange one, which we will do, it will be a number of years from the first Strange, and yet he’s a very big part of Infinity War. So it is just a good problem to have when you have too many beloved characters that people want to see more of, whilst keeping to our core belief that we need to keep exploring nuance and keep doing different types of things.”
So there you have it from the man who knows more than anyone else what comes next for the MCU. Doctor Strange 2 will be happening, though when it will happen is still anyone’s guess, I’m sure Feige will inform the world of that when he is ready. We Know Scott Derrickson who directed Doctor Strange would love to come back for the sequel and also said he’d like to see Nightmare as the main villain, time will tell on that front.
Are you happy Doctor Strange 2 will be happening at some point, or would you prefer them to carry on with more ensemble films like the most recent Marvel movies? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
