Kevin Feige Insists No Plans Are Yet In Place Concerning X-Men or Fantastic Four

Kevin Feige and his friends at Marvel Studios can be a sneaky bunch. After all, there was a Spider-Man deal taking place behind the scenes as the script to Captain America: Civil War was being written, with our only clue any conversation had taken place being a result of the Sony hack.

So, has Feige been playing a similar game concerning Disney’s acquisition on 21st Century Fox? Has he been sneakily planning how to incorporate the Fantastic Four and the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe since before the sale was made public?

For anyone hoping there is already a plan for a Fantastic Four or X-Men film, you are about to be terribly disappointed. Feige told Vulture:

“I read about it in the press like most people did.”

He continued, clarifying with Vulture that he did not get so much as a warning e-mail from Disney Chairman Alan Horn:

“These are big deals, and certainly above my pay grade.”

So, now that Feige knows these Marvel heroes are returning to Disney and Marvel Studios,  are any plans in the works?

“The truth of the matter as I understand it is the deal has to be figure out. There’s been no communication. We’re not thinking about it. We’re focusing on everything we’ve already announced. If and when the deal actually happens, we’ll start to think more about it. Until then, we have a lot to do.”

He added a little to lower our expectations further:

“It would be years away. We’ve announced everything through 2019, so none of those would be adjusted.

I think about it through 2019, through the movies we’ve already shot or are about to start filming. I’m hoping to deliver on everything we’ve promised thus far.”

Well, at least Feige has his mind in the present, making sure all goes well through Avengers 4 and going into Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Are you surprised Feige hasn’t been scheming in the background this entire time? Or do you even believe him? Let us know in the comment section below!
