Kevin Feige Says Hela Was Almost In Thor 2

From time to time, actually quite often, ideas for films get shifted around, scrapped and even put away for later. This appears to be the case for at least one character from the upcoming Thor film. Thor: Ragnarok opens this Friday, and fans know with the film comes an inevitable showdown between Thor and Hela.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige recently spoke with SlashFilm about how Hela was almost the villain in Thor: The Dark World.

“Blue sky ideas always started on this film with Hela. We wanted to make Hela the villain. Hela was almost the villain in Thor 2. It didn’t happen for various reasons. And thank God it didn’t because now we have Cate Blanchett and Taika doing it.”

It would be nice to know what some of those reasons were, but we may have to wait for the Blu-Ray features to learn about them. Whatever decisions were made during the film, they appear to be the rights ones. I am super excited for this film, perhaps even more so than for Justice League.

Even knowing a fairly large spoiler for the film that was revealed on an Australian TV show hasn’t hurt my interest for the film. While we will never know how Hela in Thor: The Dark World would have played out, we can be thankful she was saved for director Taika Waititi’s unique vision of Thor.
