Kingsman: The Secret Service was just too much fun for words. Going into it, I had expected a weak, young adult-esque type of vibe, but instead, I was treated to a hard R action-fest with a solid story, likable characters, and a playful irreverence.

However, what I perhaps loved most about the film revolved around the tropes in the spy genre, and the well known Britishisms to the next level. Rather than try to play those aspects down and reinvent the idea of the gentleman spy, they amped it up to 11, and let the audience enjoy the ride along the way. What is most exciting about the upcoming sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is that they’re taking that idea over to the United States, where they’ll be introducing the Statesman, a cousin organization that is bound to tout a ridiculous amount of Americana.

While the Kingsman had their front as a suit shop, the Statesman seem to have set their HQ at a whiskey distillery — and in this case, a Kentucky distillery. For the film, Fox has teamed up with Old Forester to bring the Statesman bourbon into reality.

Indeed there’s always a part of me that feels a bit icky whenever coming across a very blatant piece of product placement, but in this case, it feels like a good fit for the film — one that enhances the story, rather than drags it down. Kingsman: The Secret Service showed the classy side of England, and in America, there’s no doubt that a lot of pride is taken in its alcohol, so why not have it set in a distillery?

I’m more of a beer man myself, but that being said, I’d be lying if I said this didn’t make me want to track down at least one bottle of Old Forester Statesman bourbon. Will you want to pick up a bottle yourself? Let us know in the comments!

The synopsis for Kingsman: The Golden Circle is below!

“Kingsman: The Secret Service introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In Kingsman: The Golden Circle, our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…”

Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits theaters on September 22, 2017.
