Game of Thrones star Kit Harington says not interested in playing Jon Snow again (in audiobooks), however I say we’ll see in a few years. First off, below is what Harington told Variety lately when asked about his most iconic role to date.
Harington is playing the voice for Gilderoy Lockhart in the new full cast audio books of Harry Potter. Therefore, I think it’s worth saying Variety asked Harington if he would do any Game of Thrones audio books? A lot of sites are reporting this quote as related to playing the character again on TV and I think the twain are not the same.
“No, god no. I don’t wanna go anywhere near it. I spent 10 years doing that. Thanks, I’m alright.”
Now bear in mind folks, this would be playing the same part in a similar way he’s already done. Additionally as one of the biggest POV’s in the books it would be a far bigger commitment than Harry Potter.
Still, I did say in my title, we’ll see in a few years. It’s like the actors who say they’ll never voice Doctor Who once they are finished with the TV role. Give it a few years when you are getting on, not getting as much TV work and it’s fairly easy work.

As I said, many outlets are reporting this without the context and then using the fact Harington was involved with a Jon Snow sequel series (Snow) at one point as evidence of hypocrisy, or changed opinion. If the actor had said this with relation to new TV stories also, then I would have joined in with the bashing, a little. Harington was the one who brought a sequel idea to HBO and George R. R. Martin. The series is now dead, but you never know what could happen in the future. Especially once the deal for Netflix to acquire WB. goes through.
As for those audiobooks Kit? Wait till you are in your 50’s and someone asks you again, then we’ll talk. [Though, Martin would need to actually finish the books first and I have a feeling that won’t happen.]
