Game Of Thrones Sequel Snow No Longer In Development Says Kit Harrington

The Game of Thrones sequel Snow is no longer in development says Kit Harrington in a recent interview. Harrington of course who played Jon Snow would have been the titular character in this sequel series. The idea was first proposed by Harrington a group of creatives at his end and brought to HBO. However, as Harrington says in a new interview with Screen Rant, Harrington explains that the show is no longer in active development. They just could not get a story together that was worthy of telling.

“I hadn’t really ever spoken about it, because it was in development. I didn’t want it leaked out that it was being developed, and I didn’t want the thing to happen where people kind of start theorizing, getting either excited about it or hating the idea of it, when it may never happen. Because in development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it’s worth it.”

“And currently, it’s not. Currently, it’s off the table, because we all couldn’t find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being. There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It’s firmly on the shelf.”

That’s Hollywood folks. There’s no way HBO want to dilute this brand (any more than the final Season did). They’ve already cancelled one fully filmed pilot for a prequel series. Snow hasn’t even got that far. Ultimately if the writers didn’t have a good enough idea for what to do, then this is the right call.

When the show was first announced as being in development, or leaked, it was met with the same response from fans. What is the story, what is there left to tell after the climactic events of the final Season? Jon went North to start a new life away from the politics of Westeros. The treat previously in the North is gone, so where is the drama?

Perhaps one day a writer will come up with a great idea for a sequel to Game of Thrones? Then again, perhaps not?

What do you think of his comments as Kit Harrington says that Game of Thrones sequel Snow is no longer in development? Sad, happy, or just don’t care? Thoughts below as always.
